Auditions for Red

Expires: January 15, 2024

About the Project

Burien Actors Theatre (BAT) is seeking a male-presenting actor for the role of Ken in BAT’s production of the 2-character play Red, by John Logan. The role of Mark Rothko is pre-cast.

ABOUT THE SHOW

Master abstract expressionist Mark Rothko has just landed the biggest commission in the history of modern art, a series of murals for New York's famed Four Seasons Restaurant. In the two fascinating years that follow, Rothko works feverishly with his young assistant, Ken, in his Bowery studio. But when Ken gains the confidence to challenge him, Rothko faces the agonizing possibility that his crowning achievement could also become his undoing. Raw and provocative, RED is a searing portrait of an artist facing the conflict of his ambition, integrity, and legacy as he strives to create a work that will decorate an icon, capture a moment, and assure his own immortality. Winner of 2010 Tony Award for Best Play.

Contains some adult language.
