StarKid’s “Firebringer”

Expires: July 16, 2024

About the Project

Red Curtain is excited to announce auditions for Firebringer, with books and lyrics by Meredith Stepien & Mark Swiderski, book by Matt Lang, Nick Lang &Brian Holden, arrangements by Clark Baxtresser & Pierce Siebers, directed by Doug Fahl. Auditions are July 9/10, with performances Sept 6-22. This is a community theatre production and actors are not paid.

Embark on a journey back to the dawn of time with Firebringer, the uproarious musical comedy by the acclaimed StarKid Productions. This Stone Age spectacle ignites the stage with its fiery wit, vibrant characters, and a toe-tapping score.

Set in a time when the earth was young and dangers lurked in the shadows, Firebringer tells the tale of two cavewomen at the heart of humanity's greatest discovery—fire. Jemilla - the Peacemaker, the tribe's level-headed leader, strives to maintain order and safety. The rebellious Zazzalil, always on the lookout for an easy life, stumbles upon the flame that changes everything. She’ll travel from the bottom to the top to become the “Firebringer!”

As the tribe grapples with this hot new commodity, they learn about its power, peril, and potential, while battling wooly mammoths and saber tooth tigers. The production is a delightful blend of cheeky humor and heartfelt moments, wrapped in a style that's both modern and reminiscent of our most ancient ancestors.

Actors should prepare a comedic monologue, no longer than 2 minutes, and 16-32 bars from a musical theatre selection. An accompanist will be provided, or actors may use tracks (instrumental only) played over a provided Bluetooth speaker. No a capella auditions, please. There is a mandatory dance call for all actors on Thursday, July 11, starting at 7pm.

Headshots and resumes should be sent to the RCF office prior to auditions, at office@redcurtainfoundation.org. Please save files with your name, not just titled "resume.pdf."

Actors of all races, ethnicities, body types, and physical abilities are encouraged to audition; especially seeking to showcase BIPOC, LGBTQ, and feminine, non-binary & gender-nonconforming performers.

Please note: Actors should be comfortable wearing caveman outfits which may reveal arms, legs, and torsos.
