CASTING CALL – QUEER SHORT FILM – “CAMBIO”

Self-Tape, 3 minutes max. Since this film has no dialogue, we request you record yourself playing different emotions to the camera and transitioning between them. Each character will have a different prompt listed below. Please act out all of the prompts for the character(s) you’re auditioning for.

LUX:
-- Setup 1 -- You’re about to have your first kiss with someone you’ve been seeing while your parents are out. You’ve never kissed anyone before but you really want to. You let them hold your hands. This is the most intimate you’ve been with anyone. While doing this, you admire how beautiful they are. You can ease up a bit and relax with them now. They’re being silly and cute. God, are you lucky to be here with them right now. But the door opens. It’s your parents back early.
-- Setup 2 (WEAR A FACE MASK. We need to see how you read on camera with only your eyes emoting) -- Remember what it was like to be a child. You’ve made one of your parents angry. Look at the camera and plead for forgiveness. You don’t want to be punished. You didn’t do anything wrong. They don’t believe you. They’re raising their voice now. You don’t want to anger them further. You shrink away.

ANGEL:
-- Setup 1 -- You’re about to kiss someone you’ve been seeing. This is far from your kiss but you know they've never kissed anyone before. They’re shy and visibly nervous. Ease their worries and let them know this is a safe environment. You make the first move to hold their sweet little hands. Be sweet with them. Their first kiss with you should be fun, not scary.
-- Setup 2 -- You’ve fallen for your partner and have a real bad case of puppy love. But they’re about to go away and you won’t see them for a long time. Hold them and let them know how much you’ll miss them. They kiss you goodbye and head out. They’re gone and you’re now alone. Their kiss on your lips lingers. You touch it to try and feel the ghost they left behind.

FATHER:
-- Setup 1 -- You're the teacher and you discover some incredibly derogatory things said about you in an annoying student's binder. You keep your composure at school but your face reveals your true feelings to what that student said.
-- Setup 2 -- A student of yours is mocking the death of a beloved family member of yours to spite you. You told them to stop but they keep saying worse things about them. You don't care about losing your job anymore, you want to really hurt them and you are on the verge of doing so.

MOM:
-- Setup 1 -- Approach your child – gentle to not disturb them – and invitingly gesture for them to follow you for a lovely activity you have planned.
-- Setup 2 -- You're visiting your child in jail. They’re barely conscious after a beating from earlier. You can’t do anything to set them free. All you can do is tend to their visible wounds and comfort them.
-- Setup 3 -- you walk into a crime scene. Your child stands over a lifeless body. You don't know what happened. You want to be supportive. But the evidence is stacked against them. You can only stand from afar and hear them out.
