Seeking actors, physical theater performers and puppeteers!
Dacha Theatre is casting for our upcoming production of The Master and Margarita, an original English translation and adaptation of The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov, created and directed by Dacha Co-Artistic Director, Mike Lion.
The show will run March 22nd - April 13th at 12 Ave Arts
ABOUT THE SHOW:
The Devil went down to Moscow...1930’s Soviet era Moscow that is. The Master is missing. His novel about Pontius Pilate was rejected, and he himself has disappeared. To find her lover, Margarita must embark on a journey that will bring her into contact with a mysterious foreigner and his otherworldly crew. This gothic Soviet fairytale, full of magical realism, and satire of greed and corruption is a sometimes charming, sometimes bewildering, always hilarious ride through a strange, but all too recognizable world.
Dacha’s production will be a new high energy “tra-adaptation” (translation + adaptation!) of the novel full of physical theater, ensemble movement sequences, clowning, and puppetry.
Using an original script as a starting point, this process will expand beyond the text to incorporate a movement devising period that borrows from Frantic Assembly, Clowning, mask work, Viewpoints, and more to find a physical language that can bring this sprawling novel to the stage.
PRODUCTION SCHEDULE:
Rehearsals: January 23rd - March 21st
(Exact schedule TBD based on actor availability, typically 3-5 days/week, weekday evenings and weekend afternoons.) Actors will receive a general schedule at the start of the process. Exact calls will be sent out at the start of each week. Rehearsal locations will be split between a few rehearsal spaces located in Capitol Hill, Ballard, TPS, and the International District
Tech: March 16th - 21st. (Full days Saturday 3/16 and Sunday 3/17, evenings March 18 - 21)
Shows: March 22 - April 13
Location: 12 Ave Arts
COVID-19 EXPECTATIONS
