THE STUPIDEST, SCARIEST TIME is a new work of devised theater parodying the joyless productivity of modern life.
In this original participatory play audiences enter a Boundless Ocean Productivity Bootcamp, replete with conference tables; nametags; multimedia screens; and workbooks for achieving personal and professional goals. Four mysterious facilitators promise that when the countdown clock expires, participants will finally know how to “do it all” after absurd exercises in life-hacking and action planning… But as the ending nears and “on top of things” feels even further out of reach, it’s only a matter of time before the façade finally cracks, the conference tables are pushed away, and audiences are left a huddled mass of fragile beings, entreated by an enigmatic force (representing life’s unknowable chaos) to embrace a deeper, if slower, potential for their lives.
This wild show is looking for roughly a dozen performers to join a secret flash mob dance that envelopes the audience in a joyful ritual. No previous dance experience is required and we'd love to include as diverse a range of races, body types and ages as possible! This team will rehearse with director Adrienne Mackey and choreographer Derek Crescenti and perform for the full run of the show.
