Seeking Actor for Touring Elementary School Theatrical Assembly Program

About the Project

Seeking energetic actor to join a two-person actor team, for touring elementary assembly shows in Snohomish County and two weeks in Spokane County. The playful 40-minute shows take students in grades K-5th on an interactive theatrical adventure, where they learn about environmental sustainability, recycling and renewable energy through a variety of silly fun characters. The fall tour is scheduled for approximately 30 schools from late September- October. Rehearsals and all performances take place during the school day.  

Schedule (all auditions, rehearsals and performances are during the school day): 

  • Auditions- August 16th -18th and August 29th-30th (late auditions upon request)
  • Rehearsal- during weekdays only (9:30-3:30) September 11th- 22nd  
  • Tour in Spokane County (two weeks) September 25th- October 6th  
  • Tour in Snohomish County (three and a half weeks) October 9th-through October 31st  

 Preferred Experience & Qualifications 

  • Ability to portray an array of high energy characters with quick costume changes 
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse students and adults in a dynamic, respectful, rigorous, creative, and culturally-responsive way 
  • Ability to project voice without microphone or amplification  
  • Availability during each school day during school hours (approximately 7:30-3:30) for the duration of the tours 
  • Ability to drive cargo van with props and set 
  • Ability to lift and load sets (up to 30 pounds) into traveling van 
  • Current WA State drivers' license, a clean driving record, and auto insurance covering personal injury 
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check 
  • Experience in children's theatre and large group management is a plus!

Compensation
Payment is $150.00 per school, frequently two schools per day ($300.00). Payment for 2-week tour in Spokane County also includes weekly minimum, daily food/expense per diem, and covers all lodging and transportation . Rehearsal payment is $900.00. Some schools require two performances consecutively.

 Audition/Interview Dates: 
Auditions held August 16th-18th and August 29th-30th by invitation
