A Day in Hollywood/A Night in Ukraine Book and Lyrics by Dick Vosburgh Music by Frank Lazarus
Renton Civic Theatre
About the project and the company
Two one-act plays provide a double feature more hilarious than any presented in Hollywood’s heyday: the first, a salute to the Golden Age of film musicals; the second, a rambunctious Marx Bros. farce. Winner of two Tony Awards in the hit Broadway production directed and choreographed by Tommy Tune. This six-cast member show is an energetic fun and funny romp through the music, dance and comedy of the movies of the 1930’s. The cast is required to sing, dance (including tap) and act in the style of the movies of those years, with scenes often found online for reference. Act II is a stage version of a Marx Brothers film that would feature Groucho, Chico, Harpo, Madam Dumont, and a lovely ingénue couple.
