Audition for Unrivaled by Rosie Narasaki

SIS Productions in partnership with Seattle Public Theater

About the project and the company

SIS Productions is producing the Northwest Premiere ofUnrivaled” by Rosie Narasaki with Seattle Public Theatre!

Unrivaled by Rosie Narasaki, Directed by Mimi Katano

11th century ladies-in-waiting Murasaki Shikibu and Sei Shonagon are, to this day, two of Japan’s most beloved writers.. . . They also kind of hated each other.

Unrivaled is a hip, sexy, funny play about friendship, heartbreak, and what it means to be a female artist. And no matter how much things change, the more they stay the same… even after a thousand years.

If you don’t have a monologue, please let us know – we would still like to see you. Auditions will be in ten-minute slots.

In trying to seek a diversity of actors while honoring the authenticity of the real-life people the characters of the play are inspired by, we are prioritizing and encouraging actors who identify as having Asian, Pacific Islander, or Mixed Race Asian backgrounds of any ethnicity to audition. SIS Productions was founded by a group of Asian American women to create and center opportunities for one of the largest culturally specific and diverse demographics in the greater Seattle region, but one that statistically has had some of the least representation on local stages. We believe in doing so, we are doing our collective part to support a more inclusive, diverse and holistic theatrical ecosystem.

If you are interested but unavailable on 10/22, please see the option at https://forms.gle/ucqLQM3WbAxw69Lm9 to submit a self-tape by 10/22, or let us know if neither option is possible.
