About the project and the company

Bend in the Road, The Anne of Green Gables Musical (book & lyrics by Benita Scheckel; music & lyrics by Michael Upward), is the Northwest Premier of this high-energy, brand new family show based on the “Anne of Green Gables” book. Bend in the Road’s themes of finding a home, being an intelligent and independent woman, using the power of imagination and growing up resonate with audiences from all walks of life. This is an ideal show for families to do together – a great way to spend the summer!

We will be working with the author and composer as we bring this show to life on our forest stage.

Other details

The beautiful Kitsap Forest Theater is owned by The Mountaineers, a 501(c)3 outdoor education and conservation organization in Seattle. Next year is our 100th Anniversary year! We strive to produce high quality shows with stellar acting, singing and dancing. We value strong character development and fast-paced shows. We typically have actors and production staff from both sides of Puget Sound. Performing out of doors in our beautiful and unique outdoor theater brings many joys (and challenges) that bonds the multi-age cast together and delights the appreciative audiences. It's a great venue for all ages - kids included!

Our summer show is timed so that college students can spend their summer rehearsing and performing with us and still return to school by the time many schools start in August. This show is also great for families to be in together. The show opens the end of July and runs for 4 weekends. The last performance weekend is usually two weeks before Labor Day.

We prefer in-person auditions, but if you are unable to attend in-person, please send in a video audition. Instructions for sending a video audition are at www.foresttheater.com/auditions.

REHEARSAL INFO: Weeknight rehearsals are held in Edmonds for 2022. There may be some week night rehearsals on the Kitsap side depending on who is cast.

We have some weekend rehearsals at the theater in Bremerton (Saturday or both days with an overnight stay possible). Many actors choose to spend the night at the theater on Saturday night and enjoy the camaraderie of "hanging out" together at Kitsap Cabin where volunteer cooks prepare Saturday night dinner and Sunday breakfast and lunch. We encourage carpools and sharing commuter ferry passes to help with transportation costs.

It is our policy to carefully schedule rehearsals so that you are not called unless you are needed. Main characters can be expected to come to most rehearsals.

We have a "Survival Guide" with more information about rehearsing and staying at the Kitsap Forest Theater and information about The Mountaineers Players on our audition page.
