Auditions for "Something Rotten"

Red Curtain Foundation for the Arts

About the project and the company

Red Curtain announces auditions for the first show of our 15th season, “Something Rotten,” book by Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell, music and lyrics by Karey Kirkpatrick and Wayne Kirkpatrick, and directed by Diane Jamieson.

This heartfelt, hilarious story follows two brothers, Nick and Nigel Bottom, who are struggling playwrights in Elizabethan London. But how can they get a foot in the door when they’re competing against William Shakespeare, the biggest celebrity in England? Desperate to keep their acting company afloat, and out-bard the Bard, Nick consults with a self-proclaimed soothsayer, who informs him that singing, dancing and acting are the future of theater. Thus, the Bottom brothers write the world’s very first “musical” leading to a hysterical, joyous romp through musicals past and present!

Performances will be September 8-24, 2023, with Friday/Saturday shows at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm.

Location of Audition

Auditions and performances will be held at the Red Curtain Arts Center, located at 9315 State Ave #J in Marysville. We're in the same shopping center as Goodwill, with our entrance around back, behind the beauty school.
