Zoom auditions for Thalia’s Umbrella’s production of THE STANDBY LEAR, by John W. Lowell.

 

Backstage at a major regional theater production of KING LEAR. Backstage at a marriage. Backstage in a man’s brain.

 

First rehearsal February 28, 2023; open March 31; close April 15.

AEA SPT Tier 4 contract, $495/hr.  Non-AEA $19/hr.

Performances in the Studio at 12th Avenue Arts.

This is an Equity Principal Audition. We will happily see non-AEA actors as time permits.

Audition requirements

Please prepare a short Shakespeare monologue. A side from the play will be emailed when you make an appointment.

AUGIE (M), 60s
A professional actor—a good one!—working as a standby for Lear at a major regional theater. Married to Anna. Having a crisis of confidence.
ANNA (F), 60ish
Also a (retired) professional actor—a good one! Married to Augie. Knows more than she (initially) lets on.
