Auditions for The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire Project

Rainy Day Artistic Collective

About the project and the company

Rainy Day Artistic Collective presents “The Triangle Factory Fire Project”, written by Christopher Piehler in collaboration with Scott Alan Evans and directed by Jack Seamus Conley.

About the play: The Triangle Factory Fire Project “uses eyewitness accounts, court transcripts and other archival material to create a dramatic moment-by-moment account of the fire at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory in 1911 and the social upheaval that followed. It culminates in the manslaughter trial of the owners, Isaac Harris and Max Blanck, whose shocking acquittal inspires new outrage across New York and the entire country, the repercussions of which shaped social, political, and economic policies for decades to come. By using real words spoken by real people, from Ukrainian seamstresses to millionaire Fifth Avenue socialites, The Triangle Factory Fire Project paints a heartbreakingly clear picture of a disastrous day in American history and explores the human toll such a tragedy takes on us all.” -Dramatists Play Service

About this production: There will be a six performance run in April 2024 in Theatre 4. Performance dates are April 12-14 and 19-21. Rehearsals will take place in the Armory Building starting in late February 2024. This is a modest budget, fully produced period piece show with a simple set. No roles are precast for this production, and this is a 5M 4W ensemble cast where all actors will play multiple (roughly 3-5) roles, as recommended by the original script of the show (we will most likely be following the playwright-recommended casting).

Additionally here is a direct link to the google form you need to fill out if you are interested in auditioning:

Auditions will be held the evening of Jan 9 & 10.

Rehearsals and performances will take place in Seattle, WA. This project is by volunteer basis only, and each actor will receive a $75 stipend for their work. We understand if that’s a dealbreaker for anyone and we hope to be able to pay more in the future.
