Bellevue Youth Theatre is hiring Resident Stage Managers!
Resident Stage Managers are responsible for facilitating communication between director(s), BYT staff, creative and technical departments, participants, and parents/guardians. Assist director(s) with record keeping and organization; ensure protocols and procedures are followed during rehearsals; Responsible for accurate timekeeping and documentation of rehearsals and performances. Must be able to call performances over headset to booth technicians.
This is a continuous, part-time position. Upon the completion of one production, stage managers will be assigned to new projects. Stage Managers can anticipate working on 2-3 productions/camps a year minimum, approximately 15-20 hours per week, annually. Salary ranges from $17.55-$24.22/hr DOE.
The Bellevue Youth Theatre is dedicated to providing theater arts opportunities for all young people, regardless of income or ability. We produce 11 mainstage shows a year in addition to 9 weeks of theatre day camps. Everyone who auditions will receive a role.

Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Plan, organize, and manage pre-production meetings, rehearsals, tech and dress rehearsals, and performances for Bellevue Youth Theatre. - Create rehearsal reports daily for productions and distribute them to appropriate personnel. - Track props, costumes, projections, and scenic elements throughout the production. - Assist with and oversee auditions. - Supervise participants during rehearsal. Manage large groups; keep participants on task and focused. - Utilize proper safety practices and procedures. - Maintain a variety of files and records; enter and retrieve information from a computer. - Able to work weekends and nights as needed. - Train, monitor, and oversee volunteers and assistant stage managers. Supervision Received and Exercised: Reports to designated Program Coordinator.
Required Qualifications
Qualifications Knowledge of: - Theatrical rehearsal and performance protocols. - General theatre etiquette. - Producing licensed productions. - Stage management responsibilities. - Schedules and time-management. - Working with children and young people. Ability to: - Create concise and specific rehearsal schedules. - Communicate with a variety of theatre personnel in a timely and professional manner. - Manage large groups of participants. - Track attendance and communicate with director and participants/parents regarding absences, conflicts, and emergencies. - Communicate director’s notes/vision with designers, cast, guardians, etc. - Be on book and call lines during rehearsals. - Create and maintain prompt book. - Call the show over headset to lights, sound, projections. - Collaboratively lead a team of volunteer stagehands and booth operators. - Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. - Multi-task at a high level of proficiency. - Remain calm and clear-headed in stressful or extraordinary circumstances. - Work in a fast-paced environment. Education and Experience Guidelines - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. Education/Training: - Some coursework (or equivalent study) in theatre, education, stage management, or a combination thereof. - Must be at least 18 years of age. Experience: - Two years (or equivalent) working with children and/or large groups. - Some stage management experience preferred. - Prior work experience in education, customer service, hospitality, and/or working with the public is preferred, but not required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Skill using computer software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. - Energetic, reliable, trustworthy, with the ability to work effectively leading a team. Other Requirements -Must pass a criminal background check.
