About the Show: The winner of five 2015 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Fun Home is a musical adapted by Lisa Kron and Jeanine Tesori from Alison Bechdel’s 2006 graphic memoir of the same name. The story concerns Bechdel’s discovery of her own sexuality, her relationship with her gay father, and her attempts to unlock the mysteries surrounding his life. It is told in a series of non-linear vignettes connected by narration provided by the adult Alison character. Note: Parents are encouraged to research the content of this musical prior to auditions.

Ballyhoo strives to create a casting process that is welcoming and serves those auditioning as well as the creative team in the full exploration of the material.  All body types, races, ethnicities, and abilities are desired for any available role.  Ballyhoo recognizes that most characters are written as binary (using he/him or she/her pronouns) and we invite GNC, genderqueer, transgender, and nonbinary actors to submit for all roles with which they identify. If you have access needs, please let us know. If there is anything that will help to make you comfortable in our audition room, please ask.
