Dacha Theatre CASTING for Julia Izumi's Sometimes the Rain, Sometimes the Sea
Dacha Theatre
About the project and the company
Dacha Theatre is casting for our upcoming production of
Julia Izumi’s Sometimes the Rain, Sometimes the Sea,
directed by co-Artistic Director Kate Drummond!
The show will run July 14th – August 6th, outdoors in the Seattle area.
ABOUT THE SHOW:
“The Little Mermaid” is Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved and well-known fairy tale, BUT it’s NOT the story our friend, Dolan, is going to tell you today. No, he’s going to tell you the story about a Little Rain Cloud who falls in love with a human. They are not the same story at all, he swears.
Sometimes the Rain, Sometimes the Sea is a lovely and haphazard collision of multiple stories, framed as a sort-of retelling of “The Little Mermaid.” It is a beautiful and challenging read on modern relationships, whether we are the heroes in our own stories, and what love really looks like, all spun within a nostalgic and magical and silly container. It is irreverent and unapologetic in its chaos, but lands on lovely poignant moments about why we tell the stories that we tell.
Plus, it has a great twist!
