Edmonds Driftwood Players would love to meet you and hear your vision for our 2023/2024 mainstage shows! We are in residence at the Wade James Theatre in Edmonds, Washington and are a volunteer-based, 501(c)(3) nonprofit community theater. We are proud to be celebrating 65 years of entertaining our community, making us one of the oldest continuously operating community theatres in Washington State.

Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka

Job Description

About the Process: -Interviews will be conducted by the members of the Play/Director Selection Committee on Saturday, March 4 (between 9am and 5pm) and Sunday, March 5 (between 9am and 4pm). After the interviews, reference calls will be made. The committee will submit their director/show recommendations to the Board of Directors before or at the March Board Meeting (March 27, 2023). -After approval by the Board, volunteer agreements will be offered to directors for our mainstage shows. Directors will be overseen by staff and be assigned creative teams of volunteers. Directors may give suggestions or recommendations for their team members, but EDP oversees the recruitment. Our current volunteer director stipends are $600 for each mainstage show.

Required Qualifications

Each director must read the scripts or demonstrate a good working-knowledge of each show for which they wish to be considered.

How to Apply
All candidates must submit the following documents as a single PDF via Google Survey (the "Click HERE to Apply" below) by midnight Sunday, February 26, 2023.

1. A current (updated) resume, including years of productions
2. Contact information for two producing organizations of your most recent projects
3. A cover letter providing a vision statement for your first-choice show, as well as an overview of your experience working on volunteer productions.

The survey will ask you to select your first, second, and third choice shows. It will also ask about any conflicts you may have for scheduling, based upon the approximate dates presented above.

Once you have submitted materials, the Managing Director will reach out regarding scheduling your interview time.

Interview Details
All interviews will take place at the EDP Rehearsal Annex (located at 200 Dayton St, Edmonds) and will be approximately 30 minutes in length. They may be recorded for committee, staff, and/or board reference, but will not be shared outside of this group of people.

Your submission materials will focus on your first choice, but please come to your interview prepared to discuss your interest and vision for your second choice as well. NOTE: Once you submit your ideas and plans at the interview, you will be considered for the shows based on that vision. Any changes of ideas or plans for casting or direction of the show must receive Board approval.
