Film Audition - Fish Out of Water

About the project and the company

CALL FOR ACTORS
For the short film Fish Out of Water to be shot in mid- to late-May, 2023, in the Puget Sound area of Washington, State.

SYNOPSIS: In running from an oppressive Victorian society that never fully accepted him, a young queer man of color seeks refuge working in a lighthouse. But, it will take a chance meeting with someone extraordinary for him to find where he truly belongs.

THE CHARACTERS:
Solomon
• Black
• Male
• 20s
A queer lighthouse keeper of color who wants seclusion so he can live as his complete self without fear or judgement.

Andromeda
• Non-White
• Non-Binary/Genderqueer
• 20s
A feisty yet friendly merperson who stands outside of society’s limitations, and mentors Solomon on his journey.

THE SETTING: A lighthouse on the ruggedly picturesque Washington coast in the 1890s.

AUDITION DATES: Saturday, December 3rd & Sunday, December 4th via Zoom.

CALLBACK DATES: Saturday, December 10th or Sunday, December 11th. TBD

Solomon

  • One-minute monologue based on the dramatic action “Confess” or “Suppress.”
  • A brief improvisational activity will be conducted following your prepared material.

Andromeda

  • One-minute monologue based on the dramatic action “Chastise” or “Console.”
  • A brief improvisational activity will be conducted following your prepared material.

Auditions will be hosted over Zoom in real time. Please contact the producer, Madison E. Cattle, at madisonecattle@outlook.com to schedule your 15-minute audition slot. Please reach out at least a day in advance for any special accommodations.

The actors in these roles will be compensated for up to a week of filming. Craft services and catering will be provided, as well as sleeping accommodations.

ALL ACTORS AND CREW MUST BE FULLY VACCINATED BY THE TIME OF FILMING

Final casting decisions will be made by the 16th of December.
