CALL FOR ACTORS

For the short film The Unwanted Guest to be shot in mid-January, 2022, in Portland, Oregon.

SYNOPSIS: A Victorian gothic drama of a woman’s unrequited love, filmed as a tone poem based on Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata.

THE CHARACTER: Lucidia Planket, a Madame X past her prime, prepares herself for a long-awaited meeting with someone whom she most desires, and most fears. She got to this point the same way she got through the rest of her life; with the self-control and calculated precision of every nerve stretched to the breaking point. But after a lifetime of self-sacrifice and self-denial, has that breaking point finally arrived? Is it finally time for her to consider the one person who has been with her all along instead of this unwanted guest; herself?

THE SETTING: An opulent mansion in the 1890s.

AUDITION DATES: Friday, October 15th, and Saturday, October 16th.

AUDITION MATERIALS: Please submit a digital headshot and resume ahead of time to the producer, Madison Cattle, at madisonecattle@outlook.com and come prepared with one of the following:

  • One-minute ghost story
  • One-minute story of a supernatural experience that made your spine tingle
  • One-minute story of when you were afraid (non-life-threatening)

A brief improvisational activity will be conducted following your prepared material.

Auditions will be hosted over Zoom in real time. Please contact the producer, Madison Cattle, at madisonecattle@outlook.com to submit your headshot and resume ahead of time and schedule your 15-minute audition slot. Please reach out at least a day in advance for any special accommodations.

The actress in this role will be compensated $150 per day for two days of filming. Filming will be conducted entirely at night. Craft services and catering will be provided, as well as sleeping accommodations for anyone cast outside of the Portland metropolitan area.

Casting is not bound to a specific race, though feminine-presenting actors are preferred.

ALL ACTORS AND CREW MUST BE FULLY VACCINATED BY THE TIME OF FILMING

Actors will be notified of the final casting decision by the 18th of October.
