Theatre Battery in Kent, WA is inviting Puget Sound area actors to join our Summer 2022 scene study lab running in July at Kent Station. We are holding this space in Kent for actors to conduct targeted character and scene exploration, with feedback provided by colleagues and guests and culminating in a showcase presentation. The goal is to enhance access to professional acting training in South King County and also develop the skills of actors interested in working at Theatre Battery. Participation in the course is free of charge and split into two sections: a course for adults studying acting or working as professional actors and a course focused on high school students seeking to advance their craft.

Scenes will be drawn from new plays, classical work, and television, with assignments given prior to the course in consultation with each actor. Each session will consist of a short group exercise or warmup, three scenes worked for an hour each, and a closing discussion about craft topics that emerged in the scene study. At the end of the course, there will be a unified public showcase of the scenes from both student groups.

Participation is free, with a maximum of 16 applicants being admitted to act in each section. Actors from previous lab classes are welcome. The classes will come from a diverse range of backgrounds, identities, and experience levels; all interested actors are encouraged to apply, or email to inquire further. It is ideal that applicants are available to attend all lab sessions in their chosen course. All classes will be open to observers from the public.

We will be operating as a fully-vaccinated company and checking verification cards for entrance to our spaces.
