Yun Theatre, in collaboration with Theatre Off Jackson, announces a casting call for “June is the First Fall,” written by Yilong Liu. This poignant play centers on Don, a gay Chinese man, who returns home to Hawaii to rediscover missing memories of himself and his family that he moved away from. His week-long stay opens wounds with his father and sister that never healed, aggravating Don’s struggle to find love and belonging in his life.

Job Description

The Stage Manager will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the rehearsal process, including scheduling, communication with the cast and crew, and managing logistics. This role involves working closely with the Director, Production Manager, and Technical Director to ensure a cohesive and efficient rehearsal and performance process. The Stage Manager will also manage and oversee all technical and dress rehearsals, addressing any issues promptly to ensure smooth operation. Additionally, maintaining detailed and accurate production paperwork, such as rehearsal reports, prop lists, and cue sheets, is a critical function of this role. Above all, the Stage Manager will ensure the wellbeing of the cast and crew, fostering a positive and collaborative environment throughout the production process.

Required Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Stage Manager position will possess proven experience in theatre production management, demonstrating strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. An ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of creative individuals is essential, as is the flexibility and problem-solving ability to adapt to changing schedules and demands. Additionally, an interest in telling AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander) stories is crucial, reflecting a passion for theatre and a commitment to the vision of the production.
