About the project and the company
Mirror Stage seeks an enthusiastic, detail-oriented people person with strong organizational and financial management skills to coordinate on-site ticket sales and Will Call for the US premiere of The Squirrel Plays by Mia McCullough at 12th Ave Arts Studio. The Box Office Coordinator will assist and support the Managing Artistic Director and Stage Manager in running the production smoothly, efficiently, and responsibly during tech week and the performance run.
Job Description
COMPENSATION: $20/hr HOURS PER WEEK: 20-30 hrs/wk CONTRACT DURATION: six weeks, beginning 4/10/23 through 5/20/23 REPORTS TO: Managing Artistic Director SUPERVISES: any volunteer usher(s) JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: In partnership with the Managing Artistic Director and Stage manager, the Box Office Coordinator shall: • Coordinate all box office activities, including cash handling, accounts management, fiscal reporting and computer systems management • Learn Click & Pledge Events Management for Salesforce software, including events management, registering participants, entering contacts, and all necessary reporting and troubleshooting • Take primary responsibility for on-site ticket sales, preparing cash box, Will Call and opening box office at least one hour before curtain time for every performance • Prepare performance reports reconciling the on-site ticket sales receipts (cash, checks & credit cards) with C&P advance sales, Will Call and no shows • Ready the theater lobby & displays, ticket sales kiosk, public areas and the house prior to performances, with the assistance of volunteers • Supervise volunteers ushers • Ensure the safety and comfort of patrons • Respond to emergency situations • Ensure a high level of audience services
Required Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALFICATIONS: • At least 6 months of experience in box office and/or front of house operations (or some combination thereof) • Excellent verbal and written communications skills • Flexible, reliable, and dependable self-starter who can work independently • Detail oriented, well organized and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously • Friendly, outgoing with great customer service skills a must; the ability to work with the public while under pressure is a plus. • Passion for and dedication to Mirror Stage’s mission, vision and values • Ability to see, value, and adapt to cultural differences. Demonstrated and/or lived experience working with people of diverse ages, genders, sexualities, ethnicities, cultures, races, abilities, and socio-economic backgrounds, including those historically excluded by mainstream arts organizations • Ability to remain calm and organized during high-stress situations. • Excellent communication skills. • Positive attitude and the ability to work in a collaborative manner. • Ability work on weekends and evenings • Need to be able to lift 50+ lbs
