TAPROOT THEATRE ROAD COMPANY AUDITIONS
Taproot Theatre is looking for Road Company members for the 2022 – 2023 season!
What is Road Company?
Taproot’s school touring team tours bullying prevention shows to schools across the region. For a snapshot of the work we do, check out the video of our partnership with the Committee for Children here, with more information found on our website.
Overview of time commitment:
- Rehearsals are during the day, Monday through Friday, August 8, 2022, through September 2, 2022.
- In-person touring will run from September 6 – December 2, 2022, and January 4 – June 3, 2023.
- Road Company actors also have the opportunity to participate in our Christmas touring program during the months of November and December.
Road Company actors tour three 30-45 minute shows (two elementary, one secondary), and are responsible for all loading, unloading, and set-up for the productions. Typically, the team visits two schools per day, performing 1 to 2 performances per school. During the majority of the year the team tours throughout the Puget Sound region (returning to the theatre at the end of each day). During the spring, there may be overnight tours with dates being finalized by August. We usually get the weekly schedule for touring out three weeks in advance.
Actors are paid hourly for all rehearsals, performances, and travel to and from schools. The hourly rate starts at $17.50/hour (we would be looking for two individuals who would be interested in being co-team leaders who would be making $18/hour). All actors are required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Road Company can definitely be a full schedule, but you perform more in one year than most actors in town, get to explore the state, and have an amazing opportunity to impact kids. This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate and for those actors interested in combining a love of theatre education and touring. Plus, it’s a lot of fun!
