Seeking Assistant Director for early elementary community theatre production
Spotlight Repertory NW
About the project and the company
Spotlight Repertory NW, a not-for-profit community arts organization, is offering a Beginner Musical Theatre program for children in Kindergarten-2nd grade. For the Winter 2020 season, they will be performing, “Bugz-the Musical”, a John Jacobson production designed specifically for this age group. This program is open to the community, and no auditions or previous experience is required; we are simply looking to provide a fun program for little ones who love to sing and dance, and want to try doing that on the stage!
- Rehearsal location: Pine Lake Covenant – 1715 228th Ave SE, Sammamish
- Rehearsal Dates/Time:
- Mondays, Jan 27th-March 23rd
- Show: Saturday, March 28th at 6pm
We are looking for a bright, cheerful person who enjoys working with Kindergarten-2nd grade students. All responsibilities are shared with the Show Director and include helping to lead choreography and singing in rehearsal, working with individual performers on speaking lines, helping to keep general order during rehearsals. We have a Parent Meeting on Monday, January 20th at 6pm, and then all rehearsals are on Mondays starting January 27th starting at 6pm. The Assistant Director would need to arrive at 5:45pm and stay for 15 minutes after rehearsal ends until 7:30pm. The show is on Saturday, March 28th at 6pm in the evening, but we will have our dress rehearsal that same day, so March 28th would be a full day.
Capable of leading singing and basic choreography to children. Has a great love for the energy that Kindergarten-2nd grade children bring to the arts! Available for at least 8 of the 10 rehearsals, and fully available on March 28th for the show.
Previous experience working in the performing arts with elementary age children.
