Job Description

Western Washington University College of Fine and Performing Arts and the Department of Theatre and Dance is seeking a full-time, 12-month Technical Director with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2022. Under the leadership of the Department Chair, the Technical Director implements all technical aspects of the department’s 5-8 annual productions. The department has a well-equipped 5000 square foot scene shop with areas for carpentry, metal work, paint, props, and an office. The Technical Director works with a collaborative faculty and staff, as well as an enthusiastic group of design and technical theater undergraduates. Western Washington University is located in beautiful Bellingham, Washington, and the position includes a competitive salary and full benefits, including 16 hours of vacation leave per month. Required Qualifications

BA or BFA in Technical Theatre or equivalent experience. Significant academic or professional experience as a Technical Director. Demonstrated ability and commitment to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Demonstrated experience with theatrical scenic construction including welding, lighting, projection, sound control systems, and theatrical rigging. Proficiency with CAD drafting and Microsoft Office programs. Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently to meet deadlines in an environment of change, employing rigorous time management. Ability to frequently work evenings and weekends. Ability to operate large vehicles such as a box truck, drive a manual transmission vehicle, and possess A valid Washington State Driver's license (at the time of employment). Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. and climb ladders.

The starting salary range for this position is $47,915- $61,225, commensurate with experience
