VIDEO YOUTH ACTOR AUDITIONS FOR "A CHRISTMAS CAROL"
ACT - A CONTEMPORARY THEATRE
About the project and the company
ACT is inviting self-taped video submissions September 23, 2021 – October 4, 2021 for the youth actor roles in ACT’s annual holiday production, which will re-open the theatre for live performances in November.
**ACT has a 100% vaccination policy as part of its COVID protocols, so at this time we are only able to consider young actors aged 12 or older.**
We welcome young actors of all races/ethnicities, gender identities, disabilities, and neuro-diversities to share their work with us. Cast breakdowns indicate race/ethnicity only when specified by the playwright as integral to character and/or narrative. Most characters we encounter currently are on the binary, written with he/him or she/her pronouns, and are assumed cis gender; this is a casting trope we would like to dismantle;. Gender non-conforming, gender-queer, transgender, and non-binary actors are invited to submit for the roles they feel most comfortable portraying. We ensure BIPOC representation in all casting rooms, real or virtual, in addition to representation of other identities specific to individual plays at all callbacks.
**COVID INFORMATON: ACT mandates vaccination against COVID-19 as a condition of employment. Director of Production will verify Actor's vaccination status at time of signing; all Actors must be fully vaccinated by that date. At this time ACT considers a person fully vaccinated: 2 weeks after the second dose of a 2-dose series (Pfizer, Moderna); or, 2 weeks after a single dose vaccine (Johnson & Johnson-Janssen). This definition may be revised pending new recommendations by CDC or FDA. ACT will comply with all applicable federal, state, and local law regarding mandatory vaccinations, including any legally required exemptions, limitation, payments, leave, and recordkeeping.**
Your video presentation should be about 5-6 minutes and include the following: (1) Your name, age, and date of birth (2) Title or character name and source of your monologue and song (3) Monologue (or short poem) and song (accompanied or a cappella) (4) Either before or after your monologue and song, please take a couple of minutes to tell us something you’d like us to know about you – a story about something that happened to you, how you’ve been feeling about this crazy year, something you love to do, why you want to be part of the show, etc. (Parents, if you want to act as off-camera interviewer to help out, by all means do!) Please upload your video link, along with a picture, resumé, and some other information you’ll see requested (including basic clothing measurements, have that tape measure ready!), at this Airtable location: https://airtable.com/shrBdkxl1fBWYn39w All young actors will be contacted about the results of the auditions.
