Womxn’s March Male-Bodied  Stand-Ins call – One Night Only — Womxn’s Rights Art Project Participants Needed

This year for the Womxn’s March on Seattle #FemmeFuture Fundraiser, the planning team is looking for cis-white male bodied human stand-ins  willing to physically demonstrate their committment to putting thier bodies on the line for the movement. Stand-ins will be placed throughout the fundraiser and will be asked to be shirtless, with language representing the struggle for Womxn’s rights written on their chests. Examples include domestic violence, sexual assault, missing and murdered indigenous women, human trafficking, trans women murder statistics, etc. The reasoning behind using cis and white male-bodied individuals is to ensure that there is an equitable giving model in place that creates a space where those with the greatest amount of privilege are putting their bodies on the line for the movement. In that spirit, this is not a paid engagement, there will be no speaking, and no special recognition for this project. The process for becoming involved in this project will include a brief interview to ensure that your values align with those of the womxn’s march.

Info on the Womxn’s March on Seattle 2020: I am the Future

This year the focus is on what the future of collective intersectional liberation is and must be.

Formerly, the womxn’s march space felt exclusionary to non-white womxn. This year we intend to crack away at the layers of the social justice, political, and feminist movement that rarely benefits indigenous, black, and other communities of color and push forward consicientiously to move away from colonial systems and white supremacy. This intersectionality-focused team is working to catalyze change to feel and reflect inclusive empowerment.

We are led by Phoenix Johnson of the Tlingit & Haida Nation and President of Veterans For Peace/Veterans for Peace – Seattle Chapter 92, Bianca Davis-Lovelace of the African American community and Tri-Chair of the Washington Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival, and Tae Phoenix, a professional musician and activist who is Latina Jewish. On our growing team we have folx of many diverse communities and identities from East India, African Diaspora, Taiwanese, Chinese, Filipino, and we continue to build wider on an intersectional platform. This year will be focused on amplifying the voices of womxn, femme, non-gender conforming people pushed to the margins of society and taking a special focus on supporting youth leaders. This is a multi-generational movement, but especially a movement led by and for our younger generations. It is time to come together and build towards a better future.
