About the project and the company
This position is fit for an educator with a passion for theatre and a love for sharing the craft. Through Show To Go, Teaching Artists will cast and then direct a production in 6-8 weeks (depending on the school calendar). Directors will also teach the basics of theatre arts to students of a variety of ages.
Per Washington state mandate, all people working with K-12 student populations must be fully vaccinated. As well, Directors would be required to pass a background check and personal references for YTN.
NORMAN ROCKWELL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Auditions/Callbacks: March 7 – 10
Rehearsals: March 14 – April 29
No Rehearsals: April 4-8
Weekly Schedule: Mon, Tue, Thurs, Fri, 3:25-4:30 and Wednesdays 1:55-3:10
Tech: April 25-29 at Redmond High School, 5:30-8:00
Performances: April 30 (2:00 and 6:00 pm) at Redmond High School
Stipend: $1,500 for contact hours, plus $250 for travel = $1,750 paid out in two payments
COUGAR MOUNTAIN MIDDLE SCHOOL
Auditions/Callbacks: March 14 – 17
Rehearsals: March 28 – May 19
No Rehearsals: April 11 –15, May 12
Weekly Schedule: M/Tu/Th 2:45 – 4:15, W 3:45-5:15
Tech: May 10-19, no May 12 (Tu, W, M, Tu, W, Th)
Tech Times: Weds. 3:45-6:45, other days 2:45-5:45
Performances: May 20 (7:00 pm) and 21 (2:00 and 7:00 pm)
Stipend: $1,800 for contact hours, plus $250 for travel = $2,050 paid out in two payments
Job Description
Directing performances of The Wizard of Oz at Norman Rockwell Elementary and Cougar Mountain Middle School.
Required Qualifications
Experience working with youth or directing in theatre highly preferred. Reliable transportation outside of regular public transportation footprints.
