Pacific Lutheran University’s School of Music, Theatre & Dance is seeking a scenic designer for a production of the musical The Prom, directed by resident director Jeff Clapp. The production will be performed on the Eastvold stage in the Karen Hille Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, a 580-seat, 44’ wide proscenium theatre with an orchestra pit.
Performances will be March 14-16, with rehearsals beginning February 5. Initial design Meetings will begin late October 2024 and may be remote or in person. Final designs due by December 18. Final dress rehearsal will be the last day on contract. A faculty technical director and paid student crew will complete implementation. Scenic budget is $3,500. Scenic Designer fee is $2,000.

Description: Pablo, a high-powered lawyer, and doctoral candidate Tania, his very pregnant wife, are realizing the American dream when they purchase a house next door to community stalwarts Virginia and Frank. But a disagreement over a long-standing fence line soon spirals into an all-out war of taste, class, privilege, and entitlement.
*Professional and/or educational experience scenic designing plays
*Ability to attend weekly production meetings (in person or via Zoom), design meetings, and conduct regular check-ins with Technical Director
*Ability to produce scenic plans and paint elevations
