Music Director and Pianist
Contract, Temporary: November 6th 2024-February 14, 2025
Lakeside School, an independent 5-12 coeducational day school located in North Seattle, is currently recruiting a music director and rehearsal and performance pianist for the 8th grade’s musical, Annie, Jr. Student auditions take place November 6th, 7th, and 8th. Rehearsals run Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons from 3:40 p.m. -5:40 p.m. from mid-November through early February. Extended rehearsals begin the week of February 3rd, and the show performs February 12th, 13th, and 14th.
Primary Responsibilities
Play piano reduction of score for auditions, rehearsals, and performances.
Teach music material to students, and provide additional vocal coaching as necessary.
Assist in rehearsals by playing the score, playing vocal parts, identifying and correcting mistakes as needed.
Lead vocal warm ups and music rehearsals or coaching
Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
Ability to attend all agreed upon rehearsals and performances (transportation not provided).
Demonstrated cultural awareness, including knowledge of themselves and the cultural lenses they bring to interactions. The candidate will understand different perspectives; interact respectfully with cultures other than their own; and cultivate meaningful relationships with people that have different cultural frameworks.
Satisfactory completion of three criminal background checks.

Salary and Benefits

Required Qualifications

Qualifications
College degree in piano performance, or similar
Experience accompanying singers in a musical
Ability to play vocal solo lines and chorus parts
Ability to lead vocal warm ups and coach small groups/individual singers as needed.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with musical director, assistant music director, and students in a professional manner
Enthusiasm for fostering young people’s growth and learning
Experience working with children preferred, not required
Flexibility and willingness to adapt to the needs of the production and the student participants
Some singing experience a plus
Ability to sight-read and transpose preferred, not required
