Job Description

Dare to Dance Seattle, a nonprofit organization, is seeking a lighting designer and lighting board operator for our new dance show "Dare to Dance 16: UNFOLD", performing at Seattle Center Theatre on Oct 24-25. This is an exciting show featuring a variety of dance styles and groups. You will work with the choreographers and artistic director to design lighting cues for about a dozen dance pieces. During one dress rehearsal and two performances, you will run the lighting board and communicate with both the sound board operator and the backstage manager.

Time commitment (subject to minor changes):

Sat Oct 10, offsite "preview day": Very helpful for the lighting designer to attend, where you will see each dance piece and discuss lighting needs with each choreographer. If you have to miss it, we will share videos and notes with you.
Mon Oct 19 - Thu Oct 22: Tech rehearsals, including time for grid setup and adjustment. Rehearsals with dancers will be in the evenings. Specific schedule TBD by discussion with artistic director.
Fri Oct 23, 6-10pm: Dress rehearsal.
Sat Oct 24, 6-10pm: Performance (7:30pm).
Sun Oct 25, 12-5pm: Performance (1:30pm) & strike.

Let's create a beautiful show together!
