Other Details

Compensation: This is an independent, volunteer production, not affiliated with a theater company or union. A volunteer stipend of $500 is offered for the stage manager role to offset the transportation and logistical costs of participation.

Synopsis: A shoestring theater company is struggling through rehearsals for a stale Victorian “comedy” that’s aged like milk. But botched lines and bungled stage fights are the least of their worries when the actors playing actors start going off-script, and the Punch & Judy puppets get ideas of their own. There’s no telling where the show (within the show) will end as reality itself seems to be crumbling around them... WITHIN A SHOW sits at the intersection of Noises Off and Inception, traipsing wildly through genres, styles, and alternate realities -- confronting what it means to play a part, who we are under our masks, and most importantly: why must the show go on?

COVID-19 protocols: Cast, crew and creative team are required to be fully vaccinated prior to first in-person rehearsal. Masks worn during rehearsals or backstage are welcomed but not required. Cast or crew who are experiencing any COVID-19 or flu-like symptoms must immediately inform production management and will be excused from in-person rehearsal or shows until they test negative per CDC guidelines. Protocols subject to change in response to pandemic conditions.
