Casting Call for Seattle, Washington Student Film, “Memories”  

Production title: Memories  

Production Type: UW Student film  (University of Washington post-grad program)

Union / Non-Union: SAG-AFTRA Student Film (**Union and Non-Union talent welcomed to submit**) 

Shooting Location: Seattle area, location TBA  

Shooting Schedule: One day – April 23, 2022

Synopsis: Set present day, an old man named Fred sits in his apartment when an unknown woman (Harriet) knocks and enters his apartment. Fred is confused but Harriet seems unphased. Through short yet emotional dialogue, you learn Fred has memory loss and can’t remember the connection he has with Harriet. In the end, there’s a glimmer of hope that Fred remembers Harriet. Does he feel the deep connection that continues to resonate between them in spite of the fading memories? 

Character Breakdown: 

Fred [GENDER: MALE] [AGE: 70s] 

Fred’s friends and loved ones would describe him as a stubborn yet humble person, outgoing but often more comfortable around family than friends. Fred knew he had early-onset dementia in his family but took no steps to prepare for the possibility that he could get it before he retired and ignored the early signs in his 50s. Instead, he made excuses and allowed it to interrupt his relationship with Harriet.

Harriet [GENDER: FEMALE] [AGE: MID 60s – LATE 70s] 

Harriet is an introvert by nature, preferring a book to a crowd most times. She is a loyal friend, though, and wins people over with a dry sense of humor. When Fred started exhibiting changes in behavior – refusing to attribute it to his looming dementia – she was caught off guard thinking he might be over their relationship. After their separation, she felt guilty about not having enough patience. She didn’t want to go the same way as her parents.
