Job Description

Seattle Opera’s CHMU (Costumes, Hair and Makeup) Department is hiring for Hair and Makeup Artists to work on Elixir of Love this August. Current members of IATSE Local 488 will receive first consideration, but we know that the roster is unable to fill our entire call.  Now is a great time for anyone interested to learn about the HMU Department and how to join IATSE Local 488.  We will reach out to anyone qualified or who has great potential. The hourly pay is $31.12 or $29.24 per hour depending on the position.  It is important to note that these are VERY part-time hours and are primarily in the evening and weekends.  Each opera we produce has approximately 12 show calls. Required Qualifications

Hair and Makeup Artists must be proficient in theatrical makeup application. If makeup experience is in film, wedding, etc. applicant must be willing to learn new skills. Hair styling experience is important however a license is not needed. Must work well in a team as well as working with difficult personalities. Highly flexible and motivated individuals is a plus. Experience with wigs is a plus.
