Located in the historic Bathhouse Theater in Seattle’s Greenlake neighborhood, Seattle Public Theater is one of Seattle’s leading mid-size professional theater companies.
With a long history of leadership by women, and cultivation of women theater artists of all kinds, Seattle Public Theater has a proud progressive grounding. The board and staff have committed themselves to advancing anti-racism and equity and to continuing their prioritization of women artists. Seattle Public Theater is also committed to continuing to invest in local artists and new work by local playwrights.

Seattle Public Theater has an annual budget of approximately $600,000, with seven part-time staff members. Earned revenues make up approximately 56% of income, with 44% coming from contributions.

Job Description

The Producing Artistic Director is the artistic and administrative head of Seattle Public Theater, responsible for leading all aspects of the organization, in a transparent and collaborative style and in close cooperation with the board and staff. They will be responsible for selecting and producing an annual season, developing and administering budgets and finances, and managing the staff’s activities. The Producing Artistic Director will cultivate a collaborative management style, overseeing the activities of the following roles: ● Associate Artistic Director ● Box Office and Front of House Manager Company Manager ● Contract Bookkeeper ● Development Director ● Marketing and Communications Director ● Production Manager ● Technical and Facilities Director The Producing Artistic Director’s key role will be to work across all levels of the organization to continue its advancement as one of Seattle’s leading mid-size professional theater companies. This role will be responsible for evaluating the functions of the organization and proposing new ways to work in conjunction with existing staff and board.
