Divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived. From Tudor Queens to Pop Icons, the SIX wives of Henry VIII take the mic to remix five hundred years of historical heartbreak into a Euphoric Celebration of 21st-century girl power! This new original musical is the global sensation that everyone is losing their head over. SIX is written by Lucy Moss and Toby Marlow.

Performances run May 24-June 2, with rehearsals starting April 29, early evenings and some Saturdays. Performances are at The Black Box Theatre at Edmonds College. For more information go to ballyhootheatre.org and click on “Education”.

This is tuition based, educational theatre program. Tuition is $375.00. No one will be kept from being cast because of their inability to pay tuition. Partial and full scholarships are available.

Ballyhoo strives to create a casting process that is welcoming and serves those auditioning as well as the creative team in the full exploration of the material. All body types, races, ethnicities, and abilities are desired for any available role. Ballyhoo recognizes that most characters are written as binary (using he/him or she/her pronouns) and we invited GNC, genderqueer, transgender, and nonbinary actors to submit for the roles with which they identify. At its heart, SIX is about celebrating the talent and individuality of the women and non-binary people onstage. The Queens should therefore be played by cis women, trans women, trans people and people who exist beyond the gender binary in any capacity, who feel on a personal level that this is their story to tell. Cast will be expanded to include up to 6 backup singers/dancers/understudies of ALL gender identities.

Character breakdown / Project needs
CATHERINE OF ARAGON
A real badass monarch. Commanding, sure of herself, bold. She lights up the room. (Range: Ab3-Eb5)
ANNE BOLEYN
Fun-loving, always up for a laugh. Never takes anything too seriously, but at the same time lives for the drama. Some have described her as a “chaos goblin.” (Range: C4-E5)
JANE SEYMOUR
Kind and sincere. Loves a dad joke, but no one is ever impressed with Jane’s attempts at comedy. (Range: A3-D5)
ANNA OF CLEVES
Savvy, loves her life, won history and no one even knows it. Cleves is here for a good time. (Range: G3-B4)
KATHERINE HOWARD
Super smart with a wicked sense of humor. Remembered as “the sex-positive one” – but she is SO much more than that. (Range: A3-F#5)
CATHERINE PARR
Grounded, thoughtful and warm. Loves the other queens. A champion of female empowerment. (Range: A3-E5)
Ladies-in-Waiting/Understudies
All gender identities. We will need strong singer/dancers for these roles! Casting 4-6 Ensemble/Understudy performers.
