Summer 2021 Auditions – Dacha

About the project and the company

This summer, Dacha will be producing two outdoor touring summer shows. Shows will be in-person and we will be operating by the latest WA Covid-19 safety guidelines for theaters.

The shows will be devised by the ensembles, working titles and blurbs are below:

Dears In Headlights: Dacha’s first ever drive-in play combines clowning and physical theatre for a brand new take on the classic summer pastime. Accompanied by an FM radio soundtrack, this fully devised show is dreamt up in the image of Dacha’s past summer spectacles like An Awfully Big Adventure and Metamorphoses. This sometimes silly, sometimes touching drive-in romp asks you to keep your arms, legs, and laughter inside the vehicle at all times. (Viewing options will be provided for audience members attending without a car!)

Star Play:  A galaxy-sized epic adventure shrunk to be a sweetly witty bedtime story that connects the dots on all your favorite constellations (and a few you haven’t heard of)! This devised play with music careens after Pleione, the seventh brightest Pleiades sister, as she attempts to save the giant Betelgeuse from going supernova, and gains a new understanding of what change really means along the way.
Sparkling for audience members aged 1-100 light years, Star Play is visible from parks all over Seattle and the surrounding area.

Location of Audition

Location will be confirmed upon approval for the audition. It will be outside, in the North Seattle area.

Audition requirements

Please submit via the audition form, found linked at https://www.dachatheatre.com/auditions. As with all Dacha auditions, these auditions will be held in the form of a audition workshop, comprising of games, devising prompts, and improvisations. Auditioners should plan for the entire 90-minute session. All auditioners must be masked whenever within ten feet of other auditioners, regardless of vaccination status. Please note that we have a limited capacity for these audition slots and auditions will be scheduled by approval only. We will let you know if we are able to see you by Wednesday, June 2nd. If you are submitting for Star Play, you will be asked to additionally submit a video of yourself singing, and playing an instrument if you have one. There will be no singing at the in-person audition.
