René Schuchter is well rounded in stage craft with experience both on and off stage.
He has appeared as Sir Thomas More in A Man for All Seasons, Bill and Sydney in California Suite, and multiple roles in The Laramie Project and The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later at Theatre Black Dog in Snoqualmie, WA, and multiple roles in Greater Tuna, as Hysterium in A Funny Thing happened on the Way to the Forum, Ellard in The Foreigner, Bob Cratchit in A Christmas Carol (3 seasons), Watson in Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Christmas Carol, East and Dave in Almost, Maine, Hannibal in The Curious Savage, Garth Willsbury III in Critical Review (murder mystery), various characters in The Emperor’s New Clothes, and Doctor Nasté in Leisure Time with Leisure Time (old time radio show) at Valley Center Stage in North Bend, WA, and Voice in Through the Memory Darkly at Valley Center Stage and Maple Valley Creative Arts Center.
René directed several episodes of The Twilight Zone at Valley Center Stage in North Bend, WA.
He has worked as Backstage Manager for Opening Night, stage hand for Dracula, stage hand and dresser for Moon Over Buffalo, designed and built stage mechanics for Ellard‘s disappearance for The Foreigner, and designed and built key set props for Opening Night.
On the production side, René has designed and created programs, created social media presence (e.g. Facebook pages and advertising), and maintained the web site for Valley Center Stage.
He performed classical music (recorder) and sang in a regional chorus as a boy. As a young man he performed interpretational dance.
René has studied Viola Spolin‘s improvisational theater with Gary Schwartz who worked closely with Viola Spolin from 1976 – 1994, and utilized those improv and space work techniques on stage in Greater Tuna and in story theatre forms of A Christmas Carol for 3 seasons at Valley Center Stage.
