Briana Bui

My name is Briana Bui, and I’m a professional actor. From a young age, I’ve always wanted to delve into the arts as a method of expressing myself in a culture that was not supportive of emotional and artistic expression. As a first generation Asian-American, Asian representation in the arts, film, and television is extremely important to me as I never grew up with visual representation of people who looked like me in theater or on screen.

As an Asian-American actor, I refuse to portray racist or stereotyped roles of Asian-Americans. This includes narratives where Asian women are a victim of their circumstances, submissive, and/or pine after white men or where Asians (usually Asian men) are the butt of the joke. No, that doesn’t mean that Asians can’t play comedic roles. There’s a difference between being laughed at and making people laugh. I love making people laugh. Feel free to hire me to do that.
