David Gassner
David Gassner is a Seattle-based actor, director and producer. He was Artistic Director of Theater Schmeater for 3 years, and was co-founder and Producing Director of 18th & Union, a performance space in Seattle’s Central District. He earned an M.F.A. from U.C. San Diego’s Professional Theatre Training Program.
As Producing Director of Radial Theater Project, he directed world premieres of Beating Up Bachman, 99 Layoffs and Karaoke Suicide is Painless, and acclaimed productions of George Orwell’s 1984, Hostages by Yussef El Guindi, and Meet Me at Dawn by Zinnie Harris. He’s also directed locally for Greenstage, Pony World Theatre, Theater Schmeater, ArtsWest, Seattle Public Theater, Balagan Theatre,14/48, ACT Theatre’s Young Playwrights Festival, and theater simple.
David’s acting credits include the Librarian in Glen Berger’s Underneath the Lintel (San Francisco premiere), The Hypnotist in Tim Crouch’s An Oak Tree, and roles with Seattle Shakespeare Company, New City Theater, Capitol Hill Arts Center, Seattle Public Theatre, Theater Schmeater, Pony World Theater, and 14/48.
He is appearing this summer as Herr Schultz in Cabaret at Harlequin Productions in Olympia, and will then direct the World Premiere production of Abacus by Duane Kelly at West of Lenin.
