Melissa Collins Henderson

Melissa (she/her) was born and raised in South Louisiana. The reason why you don’t hear any accent is because  a) like John Gorka, she “watched too much TV when [she] was young,”  b) she’s a chamelion,  c) she’s moved all over throughout her adult life, or  d) all of the above. The correct answer is D. And yes, the accent comes back when she goes home.

Melissa is a keen observer of characters and their stories and takes them to heart. After working as an immersion French teacher (a.k.a. improv actor!) and then a technical writer, she rekindled her childhood love for acting, taking as many classes as she could and braving her first audition as an adult. She has since performed in various theatre productions in the Seattle area, including Death of a Salesman (Linda, Short Order Theatre Company, reviewed at https://www.seattlemet.com/arts-and-culture/2019/02/death-of-a-salesman-takes-on-new-meaning-in-the-trump-era) and Jake’s Women (Edith, Valley Center Stage). She is now pursuing film, voiceover, and stage roles. Melissa played a principal role in ads for Washington HealthPlanFinder (https://fb.watch/b9g8hkCbIB/) and is featured in Zia Mohajerjasbi’s award-winning feature film, Know Your Place, which won the Best New American Cinema and Golden Space Needle Best Picture awards at the Seattle International Film Festival 2022).

For film and voice work, Melissa is represented by https://bigfishnw.com/.
