Steven Myers

Even though I started acting when I was 12 (if you don’t count that 5th grade production of Julius Caesar), I guess you could say I’m a bit late to the party. Although I’ve been acting off and on throughout my life, I’ve only recently gotten much more serious about it. Some of my favorite roles include Gately in Pvt. Wars; Jumbo in the world premiere of The Last Croissant, by Veronica Tjioe; and Mayor Peter Stockmann in Ibsen’s An Enemy of the People. I appeared most recently as William Halloway in Something Wicked This Way Comes, at Lakewood Playhouse. I would like to thank all the family and friends who have supported me (financially and emotionally) in my quest to become a starving artist at such an advanced age.

I’m an actor because I long to know everything. At its core, acting is a way of knowing. In the inhabitation of a character, I come to know that person’s experience of the world. Or more correctly, I come to know my experience of the circumstances of that person’s life; of their worldview. In this way, it becomes possible to experience things – feelings, actions, exigencies – that would otherwise be out of my reach. I learn about my place in the world by putting myself in their place.
