Job Description

Woodinville Repertory Theatre is seeking an experienced Director for our upcoming dinner theater show, The Thanksgiving Play by Larissa Fasthorse.
The Director oversees all creative elements of a production within the established budget and is accountable to work with the Producer to ensure production timelines are met leading up to opening night. The Director is responsible for the quality of all aspects of the production, including lighting, sets, costumes, sound, backstage crew, and performances. As a key member of the Production Team, the Director works in close partnership with the Producer, stage management team, set designers, sound designers, technical director, costume designers, makeup artists, and other crew members. Candidates should be familiar with the show and be able to present an overview of their creative vision for the production.
Job responsibilities of a Director include:
*Creates and communicates the vision for the show.
*Analyzes scripts to understand themes, characters, and messages.
*Develops the overall style, tone, and mood of the play.
*Holds auditions and casts the show
*Works with Producer to create production timeline and ensures the cast is ready to perform the show on opening night.
*Creates rehearsal schedules.
*Provides direction and sets blocking for show.
*Provides direction to and may supervise production crew
*Works with House Manager to set schedule for opening of house, intermission etc. for show run.
*Works with Stage Manager to ensure proper placement of props, timing of lighting and sound cues.
*Provides input and vision on props, make up, costumes, set and lighting.
*Oversees technical rehearsals to ensure technical elements like sound and lighting enhance the play.
*Attends initial performances to provide notes and feedback to the company.
*Communicates respectfully and effectively with cast and crew members.

Required Qualifications

*Proven experience in directing theatrical productions.
*Strong understanding of the elements of a show and the audience experience.
*Must have excellent organizational skills.
*Strong interpersonal and communication skills to manage diverse personalities and resolve conflicts.
*Creative problem-solving skills to address production challenges.
*Availability to attend required meetings and rehearsals, both in person and via phone as necessary.
*A degree in Theatre Arts, Directing, or a related field is preferred but not required.

Auditions for actors will take place in August with rehearsal schedule to be decided for September and October.

Performances are at The Restaurant at DeLille Cellars in Woodinville, WA. Rehearsals are in Woodinville, WA.
