Joining Jimmy and Alexandria this week is special guest Aviona Rodriguez Brown.

Aviona (she/they) is a Seattle-based Afrolatinx Multidisciplinary Creatrix. She bends time and space itself to be in dedication to the arts. She is using her voice in a new way to bring to light how the arts can help one navigate through stress and addiction. As a teaching artist, Aviona is developing a solo show of self-written poetry, storytelling, and song which depicts the intersectionality of being multiracial, accepting herself as queer, while dealing with mental illness, drug addiction, and homelessness. A poetry writing workshop and an open mic follow each performance. So far this show has been translated into two languages and toured in 4 states. Aviona teaches theater and poetry writing courses for a multitude of organizations throughout including Artswest Gallery and Playhouse, Mode Music and Performing Arts, Seattle Repertory Theater, Silverkite LLC, Seattle Public Schools, and Southwest Youth and Family Services. This year they are the recipients of the ArtistUp scholarship as well as a selected participant of the Rockwoods Residency fall 2020.
