***PLEASE NOTE***: Project shoot date is August 30.

“A Friend” is a 5-minute dramedy about Ari, a queer 20-something struggling with depression and suicidal ideation. To him, Death is no longer an unwelcome visitor, but the person who knows him best. But Death is fickle and refuses to do the one thing Ari wants—make the choice for him.

Character breakdown / Project needs
[Ari] [GENDER: MALE or GENDER QUEER] [AGE: 20 to 28]
Ari is a classic over-thinker struggling with long-term depression. Still, his ongoing love affair with Death has given him a sense of humor about it and made way for a warped emotional connection with this imaginary friend. He desperately wants to foist the decision of life vs. death onto someone else-- and Death himself seems an ideal candidate.
[Death] [GENDER: MALE or GENDER QUEER] [AGE: 20-28]
Death is bouncy, quirky, and enthusiastic. He lives in the moment and experiences the world with wonder and fascination. Childlike, yet with the mature understanding that life shouldn’t be taken too seriously. He’s fond of Ari, as they’ve gotten to know each other well over the years. Death has no preference whether Ari chooses to live or die: “I’ll get you eventually. I’m in no rush.”
