About the Project

Emerald Theatre produces an outdoor Shakespeare production every August in two beautiful gardens - Lake Wilderness Arboretum in Maple Valley and Soos Creek Botanical Gardens in Auburn.  This year's production is Shakespeare's Twelfth Night.  We are searching for an actor to play both Malvolio and the Duke.  We are casting an ensemble group of actors who will play multiple roles and roles are cross gendered.  All are encouraged to audition.

Rehearsals begin June 26 and run through August 4, Mon, Wed, and Thurs 6:30-8:30, and Sat 10:00 am- 2:00 pm.  Performances are August 5, 6, 12, and 13, Fridays at 6:30 pm and Saturdays at 2:00 pm.

If you are looking for a great group to perform with and have the added benefit of being out-of-doors, we're the group for you!  We offer a $100 stipend.

SYNOPSIS
Viola is shipwrecked and believes her twin, Sebastian, has drowned. She disguises as a young man named Cesario, and works for Duke Orsino, who is in love with Olivia (who will not love him back) but is also confused about his feelings for Cesario. Viola falls for Orsino but cannot tell him as is a woman. Olivia, seeing Viola as Cesario, falls in love with the 'him.' Olivia's drunken Uncle Toby Belch and his friend Sir Andrew, plot to punish the house steward, Malvolio, because of his snobbish, better than thou attitude toward everyone. A mixed up comedy of identity and social status, all set against the backdrop of Twelfth Night, where anything is allowed to happen.
