In this delightful, laugh-a-minute comedy, four unique Southern women, all needing to escape the sameness of their day-to-day routines, are drawn together by Fate—and an impromptu happy hour—and decide it’s high time to reclaim the enthusiasm for life they’ve lost through the years. Over the course of six months, filled with laughter, hilarious misadventures, and the occasional liquid refreshment, these middle-aged women successfully bond and find the confidence to jumpstart their new lives. Together, they discover lasting friendships and a renewed determination to live in the moment—and most importantly, realize it’s never too late to make new old friends.

Rehearsal Dates

March 19 – May 2, 2024

Monday through Thursday evenings from 7:00pm-10:00pm (except tech). Please also report any/all conflicts for Sunday afternoons, for potential weekend rehearsals if necessary. Actors might not be called to every rehearsal.

All of the following days are REQUIRED for participation, in addition to the performance dates (listed below):

• April 28: 10 out of 12-hour Tech day (meal and standard breaks included)
• April 29-May 2: Tech Week (6:30-11p)
• Performances: May 3-19, 2024 (see “Performance Dates” for more details)
• May 19: Strike following the closing performance

Edmonds Driftwood Players Rehearsal Annex located at 200 Dayton Street, Edmonds OR Wade James Theatre located at 950 Main Street, Edmonds

Performance Dates

May 3 – 19, 2024 for a total of 12 performances (Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays curtain is at 8:00pm, Sunday curtain is at 2:00pm. There are two Saturday matinees (2pm curtain), in addition to the evening performance so that we do not perform on Mother’s Day. Call times will be determined closer to opening, but will be no more than 1.5 hours prior to curtain.

This production plays at The Wade James Theatre, home of Edmonds Driftwood Players, located at 950 Main Street, Edmonds (Free lot & street parking)

ROLES:

We are casting 4 actors: all female-presenting roles. Actors of all ethnicity, gender, identity, and ability are encouraged to audition.

Be sure to double check your email so we can reach you for callbacks. Have your calendar handy so that you can provide a list of any upcoming schedule conflicts. When you complete the audition survey you will be given a link to select your audition time.

The signups will close Friday, March 8 at noon so the office may prepare materials for the production team.

Audition requirements

If you would like to check out the script before auditions, please contact Office@EdmondsDriftwoodPlayers.org. Monologue: Please prepare a semi-comic monologue of about 1 minute. (Hint: there are some choice ones in the script of The Savannah Sipping Society.) Please be prepared to perform your monologue once without an accent, and once with the accent of your preferred character. Accents: We will be using accents for this production; from Georgia Drawl to Texas Twang. Headshot and Resume: Please bring one copy of each. The headshot does not need to be professionally made – a print out of a selfie will suffice. If this prevents a barrier to participation, please contact the office about printing your materials ahead of time.
