The Gloomiest Girl in the World! A new musical! For babies!

Lucia Neare's Theatrical Wonders

About the project and the company

Be a part of the nation’s first-ever theatre festival for BABIES!

April 2020: Lucia Neare premiers her new musical, The Gloomiest Girl in the World, at Seattle’s Small Human Festival, the Nation’s First-ever Theatre Festival for Babies!

The Seattle 2020 Small Human Festival is the first-in-the-US theater festival for children under the age of three. Produced by On the Boards in partnership with Thingyverse Productions, the festival includes a four-day run at On the Boards, plus one, free satellite performance in early May. This groundbreaking festival offers the chance to experience short, baby-friendly, new works of contemporary dance, theater, puppetry, music and visual art by some of Seattle’s most beloved artists.

For the festival, Lucia Neare’s Theatrical Wonders, the Seattle-based site-specific theatre company, will debut its interactive musical, The Gloomiest Girl in the World. Rehearsals are underway for the musical, written, composed,  and directed by Lucia Neare, complete with dancers, singers, musicians, storytellers, puppeteers, and, of course, Neare’s trademark North American Magical Realism.

Lucia Neare’s Theatrical Wonders is currently auditioning female-presenting choral singers (with acting chops) for the festival.

Small Humans Festival dates: April 23-26, 2020. Afternoon performances (to accommodate nap times)
